Overview

 

Do you want to help IBR build a portfolio of next-generation data collection systems? The Systems Engineer will support the system development cycle and consult with end users to evaluate business requirements into design specifications for an enterprise information technology system that provides highly automated solutions for a user base of more than 100 million end users. Candidate will work with all levels of the business, ensuring IT deliverables align with business requirements, with measurable results.

 

Project execution will require candidate to be on site in Greenbelt, MD during normal business hours.

 

The candidate is required to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise in business process and analytical modeling concepts, techniques, and tools;
  • Facilitates the creation of functional and technical (i.e., systems) diagrams and related artifacts;
  • Captures information related to planned data exchanges and system interconnections;
  • Facilitates the design, creation, and execution of analytical models based upon varying 2020 Census scenarios (e.g., workloads, data flows, system performance, etc.);
  • Develops and maintains performance-related non-functional requirements (average/peak load, average response time, peak/average WIP, etc.)
  • Develop Program-level scale-up plans to guide the scale-up activities of the Program and Projects.
  • Develop and validate the Program-level performance plan.
  • Develops and maintains system sizing models
  • Analysis of systems’ scaling approach and development of recommendations
  • Change Management of Non-functional requirements.
  • Validation of modeling assumptions.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience with a Systems Engineering role on a large scale mission critical program.
  • 3 years or more as an individual contributor role as a systems engineer or architect.
  • Needs to be familiar with cloud technology and infrastructure requirements to provide meaningful input on requirements and prioritization.

  • Experience with static and dynamic performance analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with scaling of complex systems
  • Experience working with complex systems through the full development life cycle
  • Familiarity with performance characteristics and bottlenecks of major system components including networks, security devices, servers, and storage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Experience in a fast paced, external facing Customer Support department required
  • Experience with RMA analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in team environments and with other business organizations
  • Tools/Technology Experience: Excel, Dynamic Modeling software (ExtendSIM preferred), AppDynamics, Solarwinds
