Do you want to help IBR build a portfolio of next-generation data collection systems? The Physical Infrastructure Capacity/Cost Engineer will support the 2020 US Census team. Qualified candidates will drive the efforts towards managing enterprise and hybrid cloud service capacity. Further, they will demonstrate the ability to appropriately serve and provision cloud capacity in a manner meeting client, and their customers generated demand.
Responsibilities
- Interface with multiple teams of various mission/ business/ technical lanes and express an enterprise vision across all of them.
- Communicate with the customer and detail not just the Capacity management and Cost solutions but the business value that a managed Capacity environment will bring.
- Mentor and train clients, their customers, and our related junior delivery team staff in Capacity management principles.
- Influence Capacity in conjunction with financial management for IT services to align with capacity planning
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in designing and developing complex distributed IT solutions (e.g. cloud, distributed systems or high-performance computing experience)
- Work with the customer to identify patterns of business activity in order to understand the levels of demand that will be placed on a service (as provided by our client). Understand the differences between user profiles (different groups of users and LOBs within client’s customers) in order to understand/align service provider business with these customers
- Perform Capacity forecasting and scheduling activities for clients and have the ability to coach clients through the process or similar related requirements gathering and needs forecasting
- Be able to classify Capacity needs and demand into categories based on characteristics need for Capacity model input
- Codifying Data Center Capacity to determine capabilities and resources needed
- Administering Capacity management tools and models or similar complex modeling
- Lead internal team reviews of related work products
- Ability to understand business processes and procedures
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of Capacity management process
