The Senior Firewall Administrator must be able to meet the key criteria below:

Location: Hybrid-Remote. The role will require travel, as needed to NCUA locations located in Alexandria & Sterling, VA; Phoenix & Tempe, AZ, and Austin, TX. Minimal travel is anticipated and otherwise role is able to be performed remotely.

Years’ Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in Network Administration with focus in Firewall Administration

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent professional experience

Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance issued by the National Credit Union Administration. This agency handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

NOTE: United States Citizenship is required as part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain this type of security clearance.

Key Skills:

• Strong knowledge of PaloAlto firewall technologies, excellent troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with network security solutions

• PaloAlto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) certification is preferred

Position Overview

As a Senior Firewall Administrator at IBR, you will play a key role in providing support for managing and maintaining the National Credit Union Administration program’s Firewall infrastructure (currently PaloAlto). This role involves overseeing the deployment, configuration, and support of PaloAlto firewall devices, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the network, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimal downtime.
• Lead the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PaloAlto firewall devices as well as Cloud firewall configurations.
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of firewall systems, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimal downtime.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex firewall issues, including connectivity, performance, and security problems.
• Ensuring the security of the network by applying patches, updates, and security configurations to PaloAlto devices.
• Maintaining comprehensive documentation of firewall configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Working closely with other IT teams to support network security needs and integrate firewall solutions with other systems.
• Providing guidance and mentorship to junior network and firewall administrators and other IT staff.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• 10+ years of professional experience in network administration with a focus on managing and maintaining PaloAlto firewall devices.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Will require travel, as needed to NCUA locations which may include the below for installing and maintaining physical equipment (i.g., network firewall, server, storage, uninterruptable power supplies. Minimal travel is anticipated, and majority of support will be remote.

The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 – $165,000 USD annually. This is a good-faith estimate and not a salary guarantee as compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, associated role responsibilities, applicable contractual requirements, and geographic location.
