The Senior Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineer must meet the criteria below:

 

  • Location: Melbourne or Orlando, FL or 100% telework if located in DC area
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Years’ Experience:  7+
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Work Authorization: Must be a United States Citizen
  • Other Certifications: Security+ or ability to obtain within specified time period. Splunk or AppDynamics certifications are a plus. AWS certification of any type is a plus.
  • Skill Set:
    • Experience with Agile based delivery of system components enabling enterprise web portals
    • Experience with AWS, Confluence and JIRA
    • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and/or Perl

We are seeking a team player who will be responsible for the enterprise monitoring systems and tools used to monitor and manage critical applications and infrastructure of a scalable enterprise Web portal solution supporting 1M users hosted in AWS.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Reporting to the Operations Lead, you will implement and maintain the overall framework to support systems, network, application and business logic real-time monitoring, longer-term trending and event management and alerting.
  • You will create and maintain operational dashboards for both real-time and trended views for multiple levels of users (External Stakeholders, Operations, and Engineering).
  • You will create event correlation rules matched to enterprise service monitoring requirements, e.g. system status and health.
  • You will create event correlation rules matched to Cyber Security monitoring requirements.
  • You will provide day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of enterprise monitoring tools and ensure the availability, performance, and security of the overall system.
  • You will collaborate with business, engineering, operations and other key partners to ensure operational readiness of new solutions and ongoing optimization/improvement of existing solutions.
  • You will integrate disparate monitoring/management platforms into a central monitoring view for central monitoring.
  • You will develop new tools and methodologies for the use by System Administration and Helpdesk teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • You will constantly expand and improve the integration of applications, tools and dashboards.
  • You will collaborate in creating business monitoring requirements to translate into technical specifications for monitoring capabilities.
  • You will document all systems, tools, and applications created in the support of enterprise monitoring efforts.

 

Required Experience

 

  • Requires at least 7 years of experience in the monitoring and tools field with additional experience in systems, network or application administration preferred.

· Experience with Splunk or an ability to learn it.

· Experience with AppDynamics or an ability to learn it.

· Experience with AWS. AWS certification(s) are a plus.

· Experience with JIRA and Confluence.

· Working knowledge of security architectures, application servers and various scripting languages.

· Working knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, and familiarity with firewalls, hubs, routers, switches, DNS, gateways, load balancing and basic network analysis/troubleshooting and how to monitor their health and efficiency.

· Familiarity with key servers/encryption, PKI/certificates, JAVA, APIs and browsers.

· Experience in designing and creating custom tools, scripts and interfaces to build monitoring and alerting capabilities custom fit to the systems in use.

o Experience in multiple scripting languages is preferred like Bash, Python, Perl, etc.

· Previous experience defining, creating, and supporting monitoring dashboards for various levels of users and providing reporting and status information clearly and at actionable levels.

· Excellent analytical skills, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills are essential

· Good understanding of and experience in Agile methodologies within a fast-paced software development environment.

· Excellent verbal and written skills.
