Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

NOTE: United States Citizenship is required as part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain this type of security clearance.

Position Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will support the Manpower, Analytics, and Human Resources Systems (MAHRS) program that is in support of the United States Navy. As part of the program, you will assist in overseeing, developing, and maintaining policy for the HR system and data operations. MAHRS develops, delivers, and sustains Human Capital business analytics and tools to improve and support data-driven decision making.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement and validate predictive and prescriptive models, create and maintain statistical models with a focus on big data
  • Oversee Databricks clusters and document parameters
  • Support development of data sets, data processes and data acquisition to support the data hub activities
  • Provide data engineering and support the data architect in implementing and executing program requirements that includes but not limited to data modeling, data hub development and engineering in support of executing the implementation plan
  • Incorporate a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques in your projects
  • Write programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner
  • Participate end to end in the product life cycle: requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, and implementation
  • Work in an Agile, collaborative environment to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods
  • Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs and appropriate modelling techniques to provide analytical solutions
  • Evaluate modelling results and communicate the results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Create work estimates and meet project deadlines
  • Translate application storyboards, requirements docs and use cases into functional applications
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with business and development team to create great user experiences for our customers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any bugs assigned

Qualifications

  • 7+ years professional experience with expertise in data engineering using databricks, data modeling, and data warehouse development and design
  • Bachelor Degree required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Must have experience working with Databricks
  • Experience with Jupiter or Advana data environments nice to have
  • Must have experience with data architecture and engineering concepts and tools such as data warehouse and physical, enterprise, and cloud services
  • Experience in utilizing data management, enterprise repository, data modeling, data quality and data mapping tools
  • Experience with data integration and migration
  • Experience with the development, implementation and sustainment for data architecture
  • Experience with data and delta lake concepts and tables
  • Experience with SQL sets, Spark, and/or PySpark
  • Experience with ETL and ELT tools such as SSIS, Pentaho, and/or Data Migration services nice to have
  • Experience with AWS environments nice to have
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization and orchestration nice to have but not required
  • Familiarity with Power BI and/or Qlik nice to have
  • Experience building reusable queries, code and libraries for future use
  • Network+, Security+, CISSP or higher certification nice to have

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While this position primarily involves sedentary work in an office environment and/or home-office environment, there are some physical demands associated with the role, including:

  • Extended periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment or materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to client sites or meetings may be required.
  • Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements.
  • Additionally, flexible work arrangements may be available based on business needs.
  • Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
