Overview

Do you want to help IBR build a portfolio of next-generation data collection systems? As a IT Systems Modeler at IBR, you will support the engineering of a robust, secure and scalable systems of systems that enable data capture from 100M respondents utilizing cutting edge technology to optimize workflow, productivity, and performance of equipment and staff, and ensure that proposed solutions in support of the 2020 US Census.


The candidate is required to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

The candidate is required to be onsite at the project facility in Greenbelt, MD during normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  1. Work with a variety of tools (including Extendsim simulation tool), create a dynamic model for a multi-step, multi-path, multi-branch industrial process, predicting the throughput and latency of the process. The dynamic model provides the basis for Analyses of Alternatives in the design and execution of this industrial process
  2. Maintain the dynamic model to adjust for the availability of new productivity measurements.
  3. Work within a team of architects, modelers, systems engineers, and requirements engineers to achieve project design deliverables
  4. Participate in occasional travel to industrial sites executing the modeled industrial process. The estimated amount of travel would not exceed 5 days per month
  5. Identify and communicate non-functional requirements to public and private cloud architects, designers and all remote office locations and mobile computing endpoints, may include physical and cloud components
  6. Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  7. Improves systems by studying current practices; recommending modifications and optimizations
  8. Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies

Qualifications

  1. 10 years of experience with 8+ years or more as an individual contributor role in software developer and systems engineering
  2. BS degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  3. Experience with current modeling technologies, including agent-based modeling and discrete event simulation
  4. Experience working with complex systems through the full development life cycle
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  6. Experience in a fast paced, external facing Customer Support department required
  7. Experience with functional and/or technical aspects of enterprise software packages and custom development
  8. Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in team environments and with other business organizations
  9. Experience with Decennial Census business, concepts and systems a plus
  10. The candidate is required to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
